LAWPOL, the research infrastructure for the intersections of law and politics, merges political and legal documents into one service revolutionizing the research of political decision-making in Finland. When completed, it compiles national policy documents and EU legislation that drive legal reforms, documents from legislators, stakeholders, and experts; parliamentary materials; national and international court cases; research literature; and political agendas and manifestos
Modern research tools expedite and enhance the research of these documents, promoting unprecedentedly broad research for multiple disciplines, and particularly on the interrelations between law and politics. The easy-to-use interface and innovative digital tools improve the transparency of governance and politics, facilitate access to information, and promote the realization of democracy.
Usage of the Research Infrastructure
The User Interface for the Research Infrastructure, LAWPOL Digital Workbench, is currently in internal testing phase. We will communicate about the release of the open-to-all version closer to the release date.
Publicly available components of the Research Infrastructure include Lawradar that highlights the law-making process and Keywork-in-Context and Text Network Analysis tools that target the parliamentary speeches.
